| Industrial products include production of various industries: - Cars, parts of cars and accessories production, trade and maintenance;
- Industry equipment, appliances, instruments production;
- Wood industry, wood processing;
- Production of packages, paper, gum and plastic products;
- Printing;
- Production of clay, glass products;
- Metal industry and other.
| This is one of the most developed business areas. Wood processing, paper, metal and glass production industries have firm positions. After the Baltic States joined the EU, production industry began to grow intensely. Some producers invest in the Baltic States, some transferred their production capacities to the region, new production plants are being built, old plants are being expanded, etc.
Due to the strategic geographic at position between the old EU countries and the CIS states and, the nearby sea, and a well-developed transport infrastructure, this region is attractive for producers of industrial products. Local producers are also expanding their capacity, they are searching for new markets, investing into new technologies and production. They compete with producers from other countries for a good price/quality ratio. Some of the biggest and most important companies in this area are: - Wood processing companies Nelss, Stora Enso Mežs, Silva, Vika Wood (Latvia), Estonian Cell, wood processing and package producing companies Stora Enso (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), plywood and wood products company Latvijas Finieris;
- Smelters Liepājas Metalurgs, Krāsainie Lajumi (Latvia);
- Glass production companies Panevėžio Stiklas, Aleksotas (Lithuania), Marepleks, Andrese Klaasi & Dekoori (Estonia);
- Paper production companies Horizon Pulp and Paper (Estonia);
- Printing houses Spauda (Lithuania), Printall, Uniprint (Estonia), Preses Nams (Latvia).
Experience Accession of the new countries to the European Union (EU) accelerated manufacturing industry in the Baltic States significantly. Due to a more favourable tax policy for business and a less costly labour force, a number of older EU Member States have transferred capacity and investments into the Baltic States and other new EU countries. The lawyers of Baltic Legal Solutions are well-acquainted with the legal environment and specifics of this industry in all the three Baltic States.
